Forensic Neuropsychological Evaluations
Forensic or medical-legal neuropsychological evaluation (a.k.a. neuropsychological IMEs) involves a comprehensive assessment of an individual's cognitive and emotional functioning, as well as personality, in the context of civil or criminal legal proceedings to document, characterize and quantify cognitive problems, if present. In addition, it assesses to what extent an individual's cognitive and emotional challenges could be directly attributed to the incident that prompted legal proceedings. Furthermore, it documents the validity of an individual's self-report of his/her daily functioning; this includes an assessment of effort, response bias and the validity of psychological / psychiatric symptoms using standardized and empirically validated measures and techniques.

Forensic neuropsychological evaluations are also instrumental in civil or criminal proceedings that question an individual's cognitive capacity at the time of the alleged crime, as well as competence to stand trial.

Guardianship Evaluations
Dr. Everett conducts guardianship evaluations to determine an individual’s capacity to make informed decisions regarding their personal care and financial matters. These assessments are particularly crucial for elderly individuals or those with disabilities when concerns arise about their ability to independently manage their affairs. Unlike a standard Report of Physician, these evaluations offer a well-supported, defensible rationale for the conclusions drawn. They are also highly adaptable, addressing more specific referral questions such as the level of care required, partial decision-making capacity, strategies for managing agitation, or vulnerability to undue influence.
